Golden State Pickle Works stocks the modern food lovers’ larder. Using the bounty of northern California to make artisanal fermented vegetables, fruit and thoughtfully crafted condiments, we carry on the traditions of the American food pantry while also contributing to the dialogue.

By supporting local farmers and their beautiful produce, we practice one of the oldest and purest forms of preservation to be enjoyed throughout the year.


Samantha was born and raised on Oahu, Hawaii. Growing up around the Chinese, Japanese, Filipino and Korean cultures, she was exposed to many different ferments at an early age. She moved to the Bay Area in 2005 to cook at a three star, top 100 restaurant, Sea Salt where she met her husband, Anthony. After cooking at San Francisco restaurants Boulevard and Prospect, she joined Anthony as co chef of a San Francisco wine bar. They moved to Sonoma to be surrounded by the beautiful produce farmers have to offer, and where Golden State Pickle Works can contribute to the dialogue of the modern American larder.

Anthony was born and raised in Staten Island, New York. Growing up in a strong Italian-American community, his holidays were full of huge jars of pickled mushrooms, peppers, olives, you name it. A life long dream of his has been to make delicious, special pickles, bringing the joy and excitement he always experienced when he was a boy. He opened Sea Salt in Berkeley in 2005 where he was the chef for six years, a three star restaurant and making it in SF Chronicle’s Top 100 in 2006. Since moving to Sonoma he has developed many relationships with local ranchers and farmers where he and Sam focus on the best sourced ingredients to make alive, probiotic foods for you and your family.
